In Timed+ auctions, each lot has its own designated bidding end time. If a bid is placed on a lot during its final open moments, the lot will remain open for a period of time (typically 30-60 seconds) until no further competitive bids have been placed. These types of auctions are also commonly referred to as online-only, soft-close, or dynamic ending auctions.
Important: If your auction is on LiveAuctioneers only, then once your Timed+ auction has started the sale Start and End Dates cannot be changed.
If the Timed+ auction is cross-listed from another platform (i.e. from AuctionMobility or Proxibid to LiveAuctioneers), then all time and date edits must be made on the original platform.
What is different about Timed+ auctions?
Bidding end times for Timed+ lots are normally staggered a minute apart. However, unlike in Live and Timed auctions, Timed+ lots close independently from other lots.
Once the Timed+ lot begins to close, a countdown timer will appear. If a bid is placed in the final few minutes leading up to the end time, the bidding period will be extended. The auction house sets the extension period for its own auctions, but typically a bid placed in the final few minutes of the end time will extend the bidding period by up to 10 minutes. This process repeats until there are no remaining bids.
Bidding in Timed+ auctions takes place on item pages, catalog pages, and the My Bids page. In contrast to Live and Timed sales, there is no live auction window for Timed+ auctions.
Timed+ auctions have a Start Date/Time and an End Date/Time. Absentee bidding opens at the Start Date/Time and lots close at the End Date/Time. Meaning that even though the auction has been published, absentee bidding will still not begin until the selected Start Date/Time.
- This is different from non-Timed+ auctions, which have a Start Date/Time. Absentee bidding opens as soon as the auction is published, with lots closing at the Start Date/Time.
Important to note:
- The Automated Console setting in the Auction Details (on your seller dashboard) will display as “No” for Timed+ auctions. It only shows “Yes” for traditional timed auctions. Rest assured, your Timed+ auction will still be run by the automated clerk.
- The number of bids is not displayed; only the current highest bid is shown on Timed+ auctions.
- Pre-bids will not be visible during the auction. Once the auction concludes, you will be able to view all live bids in the Bid History section within the lot's page in your seller dashboard.
- Cover Lots are not supported on the catalog page for the Timed+ auction type.
