Contacting an Underbidder
An underbidder is the bidder who makes the second-highest bid, just below the winning bidder. If the sale of a high-value lot falls through with the highest bidder, you may wish to contact the underbidder to see if they would like to purchase the lot.
- From the Seller Dashboard, click on the Auctions tab and select Post Auction.
- Click on the Auction Title of the applicable auction.
- Click on the EOA tab to access the End of Auction report.
- Click on the Lot Title of the applicable lot.
- Scroll down to the 'Bid History' section for the lot.
- Click on the Message Bidder link to the right of the underbidder. A new window will open.
- This option will be available if there was considerable interest in the lot.
- If this option is not available to you, please contact our Seller Support team for assistance.
-
Please note: For bidder privacy reasons, we cannot provide underbidder information directly to any Auction House.
- Enter the relevant details into the Subject and Email Body fields.
- Click the Send button to send the message to the underbidder. For more details on messaging bidders, see Messaging Bidders.
If Seller Support contacts the underbidder on your behalf, they will confirm that the bidder is willing to purchase the item for their highest bid on the lot. If both parties agree to the sale, Support will then update the End of Auction (EOA) report to reflect the sale and provide the bidder with your contact information.
