Image Requirements
Great photos are just as important as product descriptions. One bad photo could be the difference in getting that high bid! Click here to review some of our photography tips!
Image requirements:
- Each lot can have up to 20 photos.
- Images should not exceed an image resolution size of 3840x3840 (4K).
- Using the original image size enables bidders to use the Zoom feature.
- File size must not be less than 15kb (kilobyte).
- Images cannot contain any URLs, email addresses, contact information or watermarks of any kind.
Please note, higher-resolution images can sometimes take a few hours to fully render at their intended quality.
Acceptable image formats:
- .jpg
- .jpeg
- .png
- .tiff
- .helf
- .heic
.pdf images are also acceptable, but only the first page of the PDF will be accepted.
Additional formatting notes:
- Black backgrounds: If your images contain any sort of transparency (such as PNGs), any transparent areas will be rendered as black. To avoid this, save your images with a solid color background instead of a transparent one.
- Sideways/upside down images: Smartphone photos may upload sideways or upside down because phones embed orientation data based on how the device is tilted when the picture is taken. To avoid this, use a digital camera when possible, or ensure the smartphone is held level (not tilted) when taking photos.
Naming Images
Images being uploaded to lots individually or in bulk via drag-and-drop must be named following a specific naming format.
Images must be named so that they match up with the lot numbers they represent, with the Lot Number coming first, followed by the image number with them being separated by a hyphen, underscore, or period. The image format should then follow the image number.
For example, if you have three .jpg images for Lot 1, they will be named as follows:
Similarly, if you have three .jpeg images for lot 53A, they will be named as follows:
If you prefer not to rename your images, you can upload them via your catalog spreadsheet. Steps on how you can do so can be found here.
Images can also be uploaded via FTP. Steps on that process can be found here.
