Accepted Payment Methods
When setting up your auction, you'll be prompted to set your Payment Options for the sale, including which payment methods you want to accept from winning bidders. Your options are:
- LivePayments
- Credit/Debit Cards
- Personal Check
- Money Order/Cashiers Checks
- COD (Cash on Delivery)
- Wire Transfer
Credit Card Validation
When a bidder creates an account or registers for an auction on LiveAuctioneers, we contact the issuing bank to confirm the validity of the payment method associated with their account. This is not an actual charge. These authorizations occur on a regular cadence following account creation to consistently ensure credit and debit card validity. This validation is present during the bidder approval process and cannot be used to charge bidders not using Autopay through LivePayments. For more information, see Credit & Debit Card Authorization.
LivePayments
LivePayments is the primary way to collect payments on LiveAuctioneers. LivePayments allows you to instantly collect bidder payments, offer payment flexibility, and receive deposits directly into your bank account. LivePayments users also benefit from 100% fraudulent chargeback protection* for all credit/debit card transactions and ACH reversals, including international payments.
*Chargeback coverage is only available for items paid for directly through LivePayments.
Almost every kind of credit and debit card is accepted through LivePayments, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club. LivePayments also supports Bank Transfers (ACH transactions) and Zip, for even more payment flexibility.
While exclusive use of LivePayments is not a requirement, we encourage auction house partners to collect all payments via LivePayments to provide a seamless bidder checkout experience and increase ease of reporting. They are, however, free to collect cash, wire, checks, or other means. Payments are meant to be flexible.

When winning bidders make invoice payments using LivePayments, their invoice will automatically update to reflect those payments and will be marked as 'Paid' when they are paid in full.

Zip
If you accept payments through LivePayments, your buyers automatically have the powerful option to pay in installments via Zip. Click here to learn more about Zip.
Other Payment Methods
These additional payment methods can also be accepted outside of LiveAuctioneers:
- Visa / Mastercard*
- American Express*
- Discover*
- Personal Check
- COD (Cash on Delivery)
- Money Order/Cashiers Checks
- Wire Transfer
*While credit/debit card payments are accepted via LivePayments, they can also be accepted though a third party processor of your choice. In that case, you are responsible for any transactions, fees, or refunds made through that processor.
Payments made through any of the above payment methods will not automatically reflect on invoices and will need to be manually added to invoices, or those invoices can be manually marked as being paid.
