Editorial Content
We welcome both preview and post-sale press releases. Here are the materials we require:
- A narrative press release in Word format (.docx), with no embedded images or other art.
- The ideal word count is anywhere from 250-800 words, but that is just a guideline.
- A selection of 3-6 images, each a 300dpi .jpg, sized no smaller than 200kb and no larger than 2mb.
- Each image should be file-named by catalog lot number, eg., 25.jpg. This helps us to locate items in the catalog and link to it. For previews, the images should depict anticipated top items in the sale.
- Captions for the images. We much prefer that captions be included within the Word doc, immediately following the main text of the release. The captions should correspond to the file names given to the images.
- If an image is file-named 25.jpg, then the caption might look like this:
- 25.jpg - Picasso pottery vase, Oiseau, circa 1952, 12 inches high, est. $15,000-$18,000
- If the image accompanies a post-sale report, it should look like this:
- 25.jpg - Picasso pottery vase, Oiseau, circa 1952, 12 inches high, sold for $19,800
- If an image is file-named 25.jpg, then the caption might look like this:
- In post-sale reports, all prices should include the buyer's premium and indicate the percentage that was charged (e.g., 15%, 20%, etc.). This information should be indicated within the release preferably before or with the first mention of a price. Example: "The top lot of the sale was a 12-inch Picasso pottery vase made circa 1952. It sold for $19,800, inclusive of 10% buyer's premium."
- All images should be placed in a zipped file and attached to an email, along with the Word doc attachment.
