This article describes what Auction Previews are and how to create them.
This article contains the following sections:
What is an Auction Preview?
An Auction Preview is an upcoming sale that does not yet contain specific auction details or a catalog. Posting an Auction Preview is a good way to notify bidders that you will be having an auction soon. Think of it as a placeholder to let interested bidders know that a sale is coming up. Your Auction Preview will appear on the 'Upcoming Auctions' section of your seller profile on LiveAuctioneers.com. There is no cost for setting up an Auction Preview.
Once your sale is published, the Auction Preview will automatically be removed.
Please note, Auction Previews are only visible on web pages (desktop/computer/browsers), not mobile.
Setting Up an Auction Preview
Once you create an auction, there is no way to go back and turn that event into a Preview. If an auction was inadvertently created instead of a Preview, the Preview will need to be created as new, and then the auction that was accidentally created can be deleted.
Click on the Set Up New Auction button from the Home page of your Seller Dashboard.
Click the Setup An Auction Preview button.
-
Enter the Auction Preview Title, and Auction Preview Description.
The Title and Description can contain a high number of characters, but you may start to have issues with the platform once you surpass 15,000 characters for the Title and 60,000 characters for the Description.
- Once your Preview is converted to a sale, the Auction Title will have a 45-character limit (no special characters) and the Auction Description will have a 1,995-character limit.
-
Click the Add Image link in the Auction Preview Image field to select a cover image for your auction.
Auction Preview Image file size must be under 1.5 MB.
-
Then select the Date and Time of your sale.
The Date and Time should be when your sale closes, or begins to close. It should not be the day it's published.
Auction time is set in Pacific Standard time.
Click the Complete button. A confirmation page will appear.
-
Your Auction Preview will appear on the 'Upcoming Auctions' section of your seller profile on LiveAuctioneers.com.
Note: The Auction Preview is only visible on the web page (desktop/computer/browsers), not mobile.
To edit an Auction Preview, navigate back to the Auction Setup tab and click the Edit Auction Preview button under the 'Auction Previews' section.
Uploading a Sale with an Auction Preview
When you are ready to upload your sale, navigate back to the Auction Setup tab and click the Complete Auction Setup button under the 'Auction Previews' section. This will take you to the auction setup page. Once your sale is published, the Auction Preview will automatically be removed.
If you don't upload your sale through the Complete Auction Setup button, the auction preview will continue to stay up on your seller profile and may confuse bidders.
